The practice has opened flu vaccination clinics for bookings in September and October. These appointments are available to book online as well as by calling or visiting the practice.
A lot of organisation and planning goes into providing flu vaccinations for our patients. In January we have to estimate how many vaccines to order for the season as they are manufactured to satisfy demand. Then, as the season approaches there is the small task of organising clinics in practice and home visits for approximately 2500 patients!
For most healthy people, influenza is an unpleasant but usually self- limiting disease. However, children, older people, pregnant women and those with underlying disease are at particular risk of severe illness if they catch it.
Eligible patients are:
- over 65 years
- between 2-65 years and at risk due to an underlying condition (asthma, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, immunosuppression or dysfunction of the spleen, patients with a learning disability, chronic neurological disease, pregnant women, morbidly obese, patients in residential homes, and carers).
- Health and social care workers
If you are in any doubt please contact the surgery and they will be able to advise you.
If you know of someone who is eligible for the vaccination who cannot attend the surgery due to frailty, old age or ill health please contact reception who can organise a visit from the practice nurse.
Thank you for supporting the surgery.
Welcome and Congratulations!
